World Book Day 2020 featuring Miss Urbacz's mum as the secret reader!
Team Macaw have been focusing on the book - You're a bad man, Mr Gum. We have been really enjoying laughing at the adventure that Mr Gum, Jake the Dog, Mrs Lovely, the angry fairy, Billy William, Polly and the rest of the characters have been up to! Here is a sneak peak of what the characters have been up to.

Jake the dog also came to Team Macaw. They have really been enjoying playing around in Mr Gum's greeniest, preetiest, gardinest garden in the whole of Lamonic Bibber!
The Angry Fairy!
We had a lot of angry fairies come to school on World Book Day. Maybe they are there to make sure Mr Gum keeps his garden tidy!
The children have described and acted out the characters they came as for World Book Day. Mr Gum is looking particularly mean and scruffy today!
Our trip to Italy
Team Macaw have jetted off to Italy to explore the sights, the food and the language of the Italians.

Step 1 - Our Prototype
Team Macaw have been candidates in this years - Team Macaws Apprentice. They have all started by completing some market research on the best ingredients to put into their brand new chocolate bar invention. They have designed the wrapper, made a prototype, evaluated this and then used this to inform their final design!
Team Macaw have been playing around with the green screen this week. They have planned and recorded their own video surrounding the imagination room in Charlie and the chocolate factory. They then did some spectacular story writing around their video clips.
Team Macaw have been testing different flavours of sweets to see whether our smell and sight will affect how our taste buds work.
Team Macaw have been using their senses to touch, smell and taste test lots of different foods. They have been discussing the flavours and textures of a variety of foods.

We have been showing off our skipping skills with our skipping workshop. We have some real skipping superstars in Team Macaw!
Team Macaw have taken a trip to Morrisons to find out how food is stocked, stored and packaged in a supermarket.
Team Macaw have been getting dirty by making some mud pies. After making them, Team Macaw wrote some accurate and detailed instructions to explain to a year 1 how to make one!

Team Macaw have transported back 12,000 years to the time when caveman walked the earth. They have been researching all about the stone age and stonehenge. They have been building stonehenge using biscuits to represent the blocks.

The opticians came to visit
Specsavers came to visit Team Macaw. They showed the children how the ear and the eye worked. They even brought in a big ear to show the children!
The Guide Dog Charity came to visit
Team Macaw met David and his beautiful guide dog called Bridie. The children were able to find out what life would be like if they didn't have the ability to see. The children asked insightful questions and got a better understanding of how amazing guide dogs are. Thank you so much to the charity for coming in and seeing us!
