Springfield Christmas News

Ho! Ho! Ho Everyone! First of all, we would like to say a HUGE thank you to you all. It has been a huge challenge moving the entire school over to Sherwood Rise, but we have been amazed at how brilliantly the children have shown true Springfield spirit and adapted to the situation. The children have settled down to their lessons sensibly and happily. They have been a credit to us all.

We are still working on getting the building back to normal as quickly as we can, but to ensure everyone’s safety, we will continue to take the children to Sherwood Rise for the remainder of the term; Tuesday 21st December.

Staff Leaving

Sadly, at the end of this term, we will be saying good bye to the following members of staff, as they venture off to pastures new to continue their careers:

Mr Ward in Reception

Mr Whiteley in Year 6

Miss Boden in Year 4

We are so sorry to see them go and will miss them, but we wish them all the very best in their new schools and adventures.

In January, Miss Warrington will be joining the Springfield team to teach in Reception.

Mrs Shelley will be teaching in Year 4 on Mondays, and Mrs Newton from Tuesday – Friday.

Santa’s Grotto

Santa hasn’t let us down! He will be making his way from the North Pole on Monday between 11:00am and 12:00pm for Nursery children to meet him and recieve a present. Reception, Year 1 and 2 children will have the chance to see Santa before they come home on Monday. KS2 children will have the opportunity to collect their present from the Grotto on Tuesday.

Christmas Party Day – Tuesday

We have arranged for the children to have a Christmas party at Sherwood Rise on Tuesday. We will be setting up food, games and music. Children can come to school in their party clothes/hats/glitter/sparkly things (please note that they will be playing outside on the playground in them during the day). We ask that children do not bring anything extra with them (e.g no book bags etc) on this day.

Christmas Cards

Anyone still wishing to send Christmas cards, please give them to your child’s class teacher

by Monday 20th December.

Please liaise with the school office regarding any payments that have been made for school dinners for the remainder of this term.

Christmas Dinner

Don’t worry – we’re still on for Christmas Dinner! It will now be in the New Year on Wednesday 12th January 2022.

Winter Wonderland

Unfortunately, the whole Winter Wonderland event has been unable to take place, but we will spread the activities we were going to do over the next few weeks days here at Sherwood Rise for the children.

From Mrs Francis and the staff team at Springfield,

We wish you all a wonderful Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year!
