Springfield Academy Celebrates Launch of Outdoor Play Area
Pupils and staff at Springfield Academy have marked a major milestone this week by celebrating the opening of a brand new outdoor play area.
The academy has installed state-of-the-art facilities which include a hobbit house, sand pit, water exploration area, mud kitchen, reading throne as well as balance beams, a climbing wall, ropes and a slide.
The new area for pupils aged three to five-years-old was officially opened on Thursday, June 28th, with pupils, parents, governors and school staff attending.
Pupils celebrated with carnival style activities in the afternoon including storytelling, singing, dancing, face painting and ball games, and ice cream.
JB Francis, Headteacher of Springfield Academy, said: “We are thrilled with our amazing new play area, which is enabling pupils to develop and learn in an exciting outdoor environment. It has been very well received by the children, parents and staff and we would like to thank Djanogly Learning Trust for their support."
Springfield Academy is sponsored by Djanogly Learning Trust (DLT). The new £50,000 facilities have been jointly funded by the school and DLT.
Liz Anderson, Chief Executive of Djanogly Learning Trust, added: “It’s fantastic to see the opening of these exciting new facilities that have transformed the play area at Springfield Academy. This project reflects our wider creative approach to teaching and learning so that all children have the best possible opportunity to thrive and succeed as part of our commitment to excellence.”
