COVID RELATED INCIDENT Y1 AND Y3

24th September 2021

To Parents/Carers of Year 3 and Year 1 pupils

Dear Parent/Carer

Covid related incident

As you are aware, current government guidance does not require us to close a complete class or year group bubble if there is a positive Covid test within the group.  The individual testing positive, adult or child, will be required to self-isolate for 10 days, whether they are experiencing symptoms or not.

The remainder of the group can continue to come in to school as usual unless they start to show symptoms and then they will need to go home and to book a PCR test.

I am writing today to let you know that an individual in your child’s group has tested positive.  Your child should continue to attend school but we would ask you to monitor them for any potential symptoms and carry out regular lateral flow testing using one of the free kits you can collect from school or from your local pharmacy.

Current recognised symptoms are:

  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Runny nose
  • Fever
  • Persistent cough
  • Some children are also experiencing upset stomach
  • Loss of taste and smell is still experienced by some people but not all

Please let us know if they record a positive lateral flow test and book a confirmation PCR test online.  They should remain at home until the results of the PCR test are known.  If they are positive, they should self-isolate for 10 days but if the PCR is negative then they can return to school.

We continue to take every possible precaution to keep everyone as safe as we can in these difficult times and want to express our thanks to you for all your support.

Regards

Mrs JB Francis
