 ðŸ“šðŸ“– WORLD BOOK DAY! 📖📚

For world book day next Thursday 5th March, we are inviting children to come to school either in their pyjamas (because everyone loves a bed time story!) or dressed as their favourite book character if they wish.

Children will be spending their school day next Thursday celebrating how brilliant books are in their classes and during a special World Book Day assembly. We can’t wait!

Nursery Provision

Dear Parents,

Thank you for expressing interest in a full-time nursery placement.

Full-time placements will be Monday to Friday, 8:50am to 3:25pm, during term time only.

Placements are for children who are 3 and 4 years old.

Tomorrow, I will be sending letters to parents who are eligible for the 30-hour funding to confirm their child’s placement. Parents who have expressed an interest in a paid placement will also receive further information tomorrow.

Please note that to attend the additional 3 hours and 35 minutes per day, there will be a charge of £18 per session.

Children will have the option to bring a packed lunch from home or, alternatively, pay for a school meal. If you are eligible for free school meals, your child will be provided with a hot meal.

Please contact me directly to confirm that you are still interested in your child's placement. I will then send you the relevant paperwork and information regarding payment.

Kind regards,

Mrs Lawrence
EYFS Lead Teacher

IN THE NEWS

Following the news that Mattel has released a new Barbie doll designed to represent people who have autism, we've been thinking about the following question in today's assembly:

Does seeing yourself in a toy or a story help you feel like you belong?

 Provision for 2-Year-Olds

Dear Families,

We are investigating the possibility of starting a provision for 2-year-olds. Please can you complete the quick question below to share whether this is something that may be of interest to you.

If we were to go ahead and were successful in our bid, the provision may open in November 2026. Completing this will show an expression of interest, not a commitment to a place in any provision.
Kind regards

Mrs Hill

Consultation information regarding 2-year-old nursery-aged children

Dear Families,

We are seeking your views on our proposal to expand the age range of Springfield Academy to include nursery-aged pupils aged 2 years old. To accommodate such, a maximum of 10 places will be added to the school. Expanding our age range will help us support families earlier, strengthen transition into Reception, and provide additional childcare options within our community.

For many families, early years' childcare is more than a place to leave their child, it is a lifeline of reassurance, routine, and trust. We want Springfield Academy to be a place where children can begin building those foundations from their earliest years, surrounded by staff who understand their needs, their personalities, and their potential long before they reach Reception.

By welcoming children earlier, we can work in partnership with parents from the very start in strengthening routines, supporting speech and language, nurturing confidence and independence, and ensuring no child is left waiting for help.

You are invited to share your feedback for our proposal by completing our short consultation survey here:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MFYSFFY

Please complete the survey by no later than the 10th of December 2025 (17:00). Your views are important to us and will help shape our final submission to the Department for Education for the School-Based Nursery Fund, which will be used to offer an expanded age range, and serve more children through our early years provision.

Warm regards,

Jackie Hill

                                                                             Nursery 30 Hours Funding

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are excited to share that we are looking to expand our nursery provision to offer full-time places (8:50am – 3:25pm, term time only) for families eligible for the 30 hours of government-funded childcare.

If you would be interested in a 30-hour nursery placement, please check your eligibility using the link below:

👉 Check your eligibility for 30 hours funding: https://www.beststartinlife.gov.uk/childcare-early-years-education/15-and-30-hours-support/working-families/eligibility

Once you have confirmed your eligibility, please let us know whether you would be interested in taking up a 30-hour place.

You may have a younger child who doesn't currently attend our setting, and you would like to move them to our school nursery using your 30-hours. You can express your interest at the school office to Mrs Andrew and be added to our school waiting list.

Kind regards,

Mrs Lawrence
